Defaming the Old Nesfieldian Grammar

              I am here,not to teach,to just open everybody's eye to certain glaring discrepancies in our old traditional grammar,chiefly championed by pedantics like Wren and Martin,Nesfield and the like.

             1.As we have `a' and `an',earmarked as Indefinite Articles,`a' sitting before consonants or  consonant-like sounds, while`an' sitting before vowels or vowel-like sounds,we have two`the's ,spelt alike though pronounced differently.When`the' is folllowed by consonants or consonant-like sounds,it is pronounced like the second unaccented syllable of the word`fa-the(r)'.But,when it is followed by vowels or vowel-like sounds,this`the' assumes the pronunciation exactly similar to `thee'.We have,then all total FOUR,not three sets of articles in English.

             2.In the structure of a syllable there must be a room for a vowel,for NO VOWEL NO SYLLABLE.Now,nobody should doubt that `fry'is a word as well as a syllable.If allowed to proceed,then,`y' is a vowel, but the old grammarians could stigmatize it no better than a `semi-vowel',while Phonetics deciphers in this `y' Two vowels,pronounced to-gether,since a Dipthong.Then we have all total,not five, but Six vowels in English.

            3.In a logical trail,then we have all total,not twentyone,but Twenty consonants.

            4.But of these`twenty',all are not thorough or pure consonants;they are actually consonants only in their take-off sounds,all ultimately doomed to nose-dive into vowel sounds.And the list of these spurious consonants is-b d g h k p q r t v and w i.e Eleven..The rest-c f j l m n s x and z are the only true consonants,for when pronouncing them,their, either oral or nasal, friction cannot be slept over,which is what,the Must pre-requisite for every consonant.After all,consonant is noise,vowel is music.For the stammerers and stutterers the consonants are the stumbling-blocks,never the vowels,which are glides-smooth and continuous.No wonder,then, in the honey-comb of English language the vowels are the queen bees,the consonants,the labouring ones.

           5.To close this very brief daring anomaly-test of pedantic English grammar,we must take pride in Two fool-proof observations:

           a.Of all Indian speakers in English the Bengalees are the most proficient.After all theirs,like the English mens',Sanskrit is the Adam parent language.

           b.In banishing both Sanskrit and English from the soil of Bengal the masked Communists of our State have committed a blunder unchallengably more suicidal than that of Trinamool's expelling Tata-Nano from Singur.
