Thought of giving the name "What if" for this blog, but then realized there's already a Blog post in the same name. So what ? I thought once, but then......... Well, I come from a city (City of Joy) where the traffic jam is one of the worst in the world. Remember every other day I was stranded near the Tollygunge junction. Now I am in a foreign country & staying in one of the jazziest cities in the world. Its called "World's Wall City" -- But did I escape the traffic jam? Sadly, no. Every morning I find myself stranded in front of the famous Abardeen (pronounce "Abbadin"
tunnel, and progressing like a snail. Then comes an idea "what if..." - What if we had conveyors instead of the Roads. Initially sounds crazy, but then the day is not far when the total area of the road-space would fall shorter than the total coverage area of the number of cars. Then how would there be any motion? So, here comes the idea of Conveyors with chairs. Come out of your house, take ticket for your destination. there would be rotating stations, where there would be different diameter circular pieces to help you board the speedy conveyor. Take the seat & It takes you straight to your next branch-out. Chage branch 2-3 times & you reach your final destination. Someone told me its gonna be very expensive affair. Well, initially yes. But then consider the amount spent daily on the cars & their fuel? Also think from the air pollution point of view? May be it can be started on a small section on experimental basis? To see whether it works out? Also, coming from a communist state, it triggers the equality funda ......... no more Ferrari/Porche/Jaguar/Maruti/Humbassador funda ......... all freakin' same conveyor chairs. May be you can at the most differentiate 1st class, 2nd class ...... like that. And while writing this, when I almost thought what a genius I am, just remembered where did I see it in motion ....... yes, if you have seen the movie .. "Wall-E" !!!
