Assaying translation of TWO poems of RATHIN KAR

                                                                     (1)

                                                               OFFERINGS

The sky stoops in glee to see you smile

The rains pour ceaseless to see you weep

Tidal sweeps crack the banks down

                                                     The banks down

Enticing it is to hear your warblings when

                                    Midnight heralds my  heart’s solitude

I entreat you to stand moveless on the quiet verandah

Your neck-line bright- lit in elegance

                                    I am your foot-traveller

In bends and turns of come-and- go

The city’s decrepit lanes and by-lanes

Assume the look of a vista-vision

While in the heart’s core woodlands ripple green

                                  I wish you were contented

                                  In love’s unalloyed defeat

I alone, all, all alone, make way through ruins

                                                         While

Flowers of offerings drop … drop and.. drop

                                                              (2)

                                                   This very –NOW

                                   Known faces change all abrupt

Against the smocked shades of the sky

Now every  thing comes close to hand

                                   Clothed,yea,deep- clothed in covers

                                   Through the pores of pain

                                   Blood in drops and drops

Sheds in sounds and does it so

                                   Days change days change

But for me time stands changeless

                                   In leisure of aloneness

                                   The sly fox

                                    Licks up your mystic body

                                    My days are but arrested

                                    In unshakable despair

                                   Now seasons  do not cycle

                                   Each and every brain-clock

                                   Rings in a choric togetherness
