I was just inspired by one of my members Rani. She started a Blog about saving Tigers. Good cause no doubt. But then why only tigers? Well, this thread, I would be discussing quite neutrally, not taking any side yet.
Japan & a few other countries are actually not quite supporting the eco-balance funda.
One more thing comes to mind ....... conservation of nature & Global Warming.
So, hey !! While I would contribute my ideas later on this very thread, why don't you guys start putting down your ideas & opinions here?

Windows !!! As we all know the window to the world of computing for almost all of us......We have come a long way since the DOS days to the present & modern Windows Vista !! Reminds me of my first computer, a Pentium 2 with 4.1 GB Hard disc, 64MB RAM, running on Win95 and as fast as my present computer. Did I forget to mention my present computer configs ? Well, its a Dell Laptop with 2.0 GHz Centrino processor, with 2GB DDR2 RAM & 100 GB HDD. So? Whats the big deal?
Well, striving for modern technology & keep oneself updated is good..........but, what, if we are rewinding? Well, I was very happy with this laptop speed running on WinXP...........Then the Geek Bug bit me & upgraded to WinVista to the point of no-return.
Now, the only thing I see whenever I click a mouse is the ever-lasting rotating circle. And then? If you are lucky enough, the desired program runs after a couple of "are you sure" / 'continue" checks. Sounds interesting. Wait, I haven't yet mentioned about the everyday patches from Microsoft & huge Virus database yet.
And, guess what.........to bring my computing experience to total halt, I installed Office 2007.
Now, the point is ......... what's so great about Vista that we compromise so much on speed & performance. The answer is ........ our Greatness ....... greatness to enrich Microsoft .......... to buy their new Windows 7......may be?
One last piece of advice. Want to avoid all these agonies? Go for Mac..........Blazing speed, new user-friendly interface like Windows & zero virus-count in 8 years for OS-X. You know what? You don't even need an anti-virus software on a Mac, as the virus count is zero.
Feel like commenting? You are most welcome. Till then ...... Happy computing !!!

The sea and much more!

In my family, before my husband officially became a member--there were already too many brothers and cousins, brother - in-laws and uncles who were sailors. So it was almost assumed that i would eventually marry one such sailor. Although I had heard so many stories and anecdotes from all my relatives about the life of a merchant mariner, actually living that same life alongside my husband has been, over the years totally different experience.
Many of us ashore believe that once you are married to a sailor--all you get to do is visit beautiful and exotic ports, shop till you drop and have all the fun you can.
Well, allow me to enlighten you on that score--it's all of that and yet much more. You do get to see beautiful and unheard of places, you do get to shop a lot--but in between all of that you are lucky to see nature at its best and worst. Those of us who have been lucky to be out in the open sea--will probably understand how beautiful the sea can be in all all varied forms--sometimes calm and gentle while at other times it's angry swells threatning to devour you up.
Life with a sailor on a ship is so dramatically different from that we spend on shore, it is sometimes overwhelming. And frankly speaking we cannot narrow it down to a few points. From the social point of view--some of you may think that those of us sailing loose out too much--but on that you are quite wrong. I have gained a lot of true and dear friends while on board. There are books to read, movies to be seen--and the amazing parties to be attended , when the weather holds good.
And as I cannot sumarise all of it here--let me just end by saying that it is a novel experience, to be cherished for all times.

The lateral`l'inadvertently dropped in the subject is forgivable by all but the carper whose business is not so much to enlighten on an issue but to build a platform to cry foul against even what we call a`slip'.A carper is like a nocturnal owl that bathes in the silver of the moon only to camouflage its evil motive.Contrarily,a true critic, unlike the carper wallowing on the wet sand-beds of the sea, delves deep into the aimed-at motif of the writer in quest of a pearl. He is tolerant and sympathetic in an almost unmutterable mood to run a lap taking the baton from him who has championed a move.
